EChat is a free browser-based encrypted messenger built by Trent Troyer. Every message is encrypted on your device — the relay only carries scrambled text, and nothing is stored on a server.

Privacy
All encryption happens locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API. Messages and history live only on your device (encrypted, 2 days — 7 for supporters) and in the ntfy relay's ~12-hour cache. No accounts, no analytics, no uploads, no read receipts.
Limits
Relays rate-limit anonymous posting — ntfy.sh allows roughly 250 messages per day per device, and mirrors vary. If you hit a limit, start a new chat on a different server.
How encryption works
Keys are derived with PBKDF2 (310k iterations) and messages sealed with AES-256-GCM. Invite links carry only the server, a random topic, and a password check — never the password itself.
